propofol or thiopental sodium in patients undergoing reproductive assisted technologies: differences in hemodynamic recovery and outcome of oocyte retrieval: a randomized clinical trial
نویسندگان
چکیده
background: objective: this study aimed at investigating the side effects and hemodynamic effects of using thiopental sodium and propofal as well as effects of these drugs on pregnancy outcome in art cycles. materials and methods: in this double blinded) randomized controlled trial, 90 woman candidate for art were randomly divided into two groups. 47 patients received propofol (2.5 mg/kg) and 43 patients received thiopental (5mg/kg) for anesthesia induction. the entry hemodynamic parameters of the patients were documented. during the anesthesia process, hemodynamic parameters were checked at five-minute intervals. results: the results of the study showed a statistically significant difference between two groups in terms of their response to verbal stimulation (p<0.001), the normalization time of the rate and quality of breathing (p<0.001), nausea (p<0.001), and vomiting (p<0.001). also, in comparison with the other group, all these parameters were better in propofol group. there was found no significant difference between two groups in terms of other variables. conclusion: based on the findings of the study, propofol has fewer known side effects. vomiting and nausea as two known side effect of anesthesia are significantly lower in patients receiving propofol than patients who received thiopental thiopental sodium and propofol are two widely-used drugs in the induction of anesthesia in assisted reproductive technology (art). however, the side effects and outcome of recovery from anesthesia of these drugs on art have not been identified yet.

Effect of Early Mobilization on Hemodynamic Parameters of Patients Undergoing Sleeve Gastrectomy; A Randomized Clinical Trial
Aims: Today, due to the failure of non-surgical methods in the treatment of obesity, surgical procedures such as sleeve gastrocetomy are used. Similar to other invasive interventions, sleeve gastrectomy causes an imbalance in hemodynamic parameters. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of early mobilization on hemodynamic parameters in patients undergoing sleeve gastrectomy. Mater...
متن کاملThe effect of ketamine versus thiopental sodium on hemodynamic profile and seizure duration during electroconvulsive therapy in patients with major depressive disorder: A randomized cross-over clinical trial
Background: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is an effective treatment in major depressive disorder (MDD). Earlier studies suggest that ketamine has antidepressive effects and prolongs seizure duration in favor of therapeutic efficacy of ECT. A great concern with the use of ketamine is its possible adverse hemodynamic effects during ECT. This study was conducted to compare the hemodynamic effect...
متن کاملمقایسه دو رژیم رمی فنتانیل- پروپوفول و آلفنتانیل- پروپوفول در روش های کمک باروری
Background and purpose: General anesthesia for oocyte retrieval may interfere with outcomes and success rate of assisted reproductive technology. This study was performed to compare the outcomes of assisted reproductive technology in women regarding recovery time, patient satisfaction and postoperative side effects using remifentanil-propofol and alfentanil-propofol. Materials and methods: We ...
متن کاملCabergoline versus Coasting in the Prevention of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome and Assisted Reproductive Technologies Outcome in High Risk Patients
Background Coasting is the most common method used in the prevention of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) acting through vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) reduction. However, the pregnancy rate is reported to fall with coasting when it takes more than three days. Recently lowdose cabergoline, a selective D2 dopamine receptor agonist has been proven to selectively reduce vascular ...
